Decide at the right level
A problem solved in the architecture never has to be solved again in the interface. We push decisions down to where they actually belong, and make them once.
About
An independent software studio that designs, builds, and operates its own products — and stays responsible for them afterwards.
01 — The studio
Gritron makes software under its own name. There is no client roadmap to hide behind, which means every decision — the first sketch, the release note, the crash report at two in the morning — lands with the same people.
The work spans further than it looks. A motorcycle app that has to stay accurate at speed. A fuel sensor that has to hold a Bluetooth link inside a hot engine bay. A game loop that has to hold its frame rate on a phone that is four years old. Different problems, one discipline: understand the constraint, build for it, then keep the thing running.
Structural intent is our shorthand for that. Not a finish applied to a system, but a system whose shape you can see — in the interface, in the data model, and in what happens when something goes wrong.
02 — Principles
Four rules we apply before taste enters the room. They settle most arguments on their own.
01
A problem solved in the architecture never has to be solved again in the interface. We push decisions down to where they actually belong, and make them once.
02
Design, engineering, release, and support sit with the same team. Nothing is thrown over a wall, so nothing gets lost on the way across.
03
We would rather ship a small number of products we can defend in detail than a catalogue we can only describe in summary.
04
Launch is the beginning of the commitment, not the end of it. Products get maintained, instrumented, and improved long after the announcement.
03 — Domains
Three fields that keep teaching each other. Telemetry from the road sharpens the hardware work; the game work keeps everything fast.
01
Navigation, telemetry, and safety for riders who push further than the daily route — accurate under motion, useful under a helmet.
02
Companion apps paired with real sensors: protocol work, reconnection logic, and readouts you can trust while the engine is running.
03
Arcade and puzzle design built around skill and return play, tuned to hold a steady frame rate on hardware most people actually own.
